Recipe Using a Cocktail Smoker

Smoked Sidecar Cocktail Recipe Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons (60ml) cognac
  • 1 tablespoon (20ml) Cointreau
  • 1 tablespoon (20ml) lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons (10ml) simple syrup
  • 1/2 cup ice cubes
  • Pinch of cracked black pepper
  • 2 x Pinch of wood chips (one for ice and one for cocktail)
  • Sugar, to garnish

Smoked Sidecar Cocktail Method:

Use the Sixpence Alchemy Cocktail Smoker

For the smoked sugar, put sugar in the bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Add wood chips to the burn chamber of the Sixpence Alchemy Cocktail Smoker.

Place smoker’s hose underneath the cling film with the opening sitting above the sugar. Turn on the cocktail smoker and light the wood chips. The strong smoke stream will start in a few seconds. Smoke until bowl is filled with smoke. Remove hose and reseal with wrap. Let the smoke infuse for a minute or two minutes and gently shake sugar.

Meanwhile, chill a cocktail glass. Just before you serve, dip the edges of the glass into the smoked sugar. Set aside. Alternatively, rub the rim with lemon and then dip into the smoked sugar. Set aside.

For the cocktail, combine both alcohols, lemon juice, syrup, pepper and ice in a cocktail shaker. Add wood chips to the smoker’s chamber. Place hose into the cocktail shaker, above the liquid and cover. Turn on the Sixpence Alchemy cocktail smoker and light the wood chips. Smoke until the shaker is filled with a dense smoke. Remove the hose and cover with the lid. Gently swirl or shake the cocktail.

Strain the cocktail into the pre-chilled glass, serve and enjoy!
